On 6 April, Action Synergy Greece, in collaboration with We need Books, organized a pilot podcast event designed to connect young people from diverse cultural backgrounds living in Athens through storytelling and dialogue.
More than just a library, We Need Books is a vibrant cultural organization dedicated to promoting inclusion, intercultural exchange, and reading habits among people living in Athens. Through its community-driven activities and events, the organization creates safe and creative spaces where diverse voices can be heard and celebrated.
The event brought together young participants from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, and Vietnam, each sharing personal experiences and reflections through a podcast monologue inspired by the theme:
“If my life was a book, what would it tell?”
Each participant prepared and recorded a five-minute podcast episode, offering unique insights into identity, migration, dreams, challenges, and personal growth. In total, the event collected more than eight inspiring stories from young people across different cultures and backgrounds.
Beyond storytelling, the event created an empowering environment where participants could express themselves openly, build confidence, and connect with others through shared human experiences. For several participants, it was also the first time creating a podcast based on their own life story — an experience they described as both meaningful and inspiring.
This pilot event marks the beginning of a larger initiative aimed at strengthening cultural inclusion and amplifying migrant and youth voices in Greece. More podcast events and storytelling activities will continue to be organized at We Need Books in the coming months, creating new opportunities for connection, creativity, and community engagement.
